If you haven't noticed, I do have a LONG bucket list. Just go through this website and you'll see all the stuff I wish to do. I wanna farm, photograph, become a vet, live off the beach, and don't forget the dog rescue! And that's the tip of the iceburg! So. in order to keep myself on track, I have come up with a money plan. I call in "Money Maker" although it has NOTHING to do with "what-my-momma-gave-me." It is simply a way to gain money. Sorry to disapoint anyone looking for more. That's just not me.
Clucks for Bucks
How is a bird the answer to any problems? They are hard work and it cost a fortune to get them! Well, it's time to earn your money. How? Chickens lay eggs. That's your answer.
A girl that lives near me once bought ten chicks. She took great care of them and sold thier eggs for $2 a dozen. It wasn't long before she payed for her mom's cancer treatment. She made thousands! Rethinking this? Well, first, you must do your research! Every chicken breed is diffrent. Some are bred to lay eggs, others are for your kitchen table. They also have chickens that are bred for looks.
My plan is to invest in 15 chickens. I plan to order four Black Jersey Giant Hens. They average 180-220 eggs a year. That's about 200 per hen, per year. 800 large brown eggs! I also plan on letting the hens sit a little bit. Therefore, I am investing in a Black Jersey Giant rooster. I also plan to invest in four Light Brown Leghorn hens. They average 220-300 eggs a year. I plan to do the same to them as the Black Jersey Giants. Buy a rooster, let them sit a little. That way, production is continuous. Also, I'd like three barred rock hens and a rhode island red rooster. I will then breed them which will result in creating a brown sexlink. I am planning to order from Meyer Hatchery.
Next step is to build (or buy) yourself a coop. The coop must be big enough to hold the chickens, provide a nest for each hen, and has a place to keep your roosters seperate (if you have more than one). Also, decide now weither or not you will have them free ranged or penned up. Tjis is another factor that plays in your decision on picking your breeds. Active birds require more room to run and play.
You then must take care of the birds. No, they don't take care of themselves. You have to provide feed, water, and even vet care if neccissary. You want to take all the precautions, vaccinate all the birds, and be on a look out for lice and mites! My plan is to get the chicks vaccinated when I purchase them. To keep fresh water, I plan to use a watering system. I will install gutters onto the roof of the chicken coop and collect all the rain water that falls into a rain barrell. A PVC pipe will then connect to the bottom it will run along the side of the coop and then to the inside. It will contain holes that have chicken cups attached. The chickens will have access to fresh water, everyday, all day.

Home Grown Money Trees
Cool as a Cucumber? What about White Wonder Cucumbers?
Yummy yellow Squash fried to prefection? My mouth is watering already.
If you haven't noticed, it's not really "money trees" but it might as well be. Why? Well, let's see. Walmart sells the seeds for 20 cents. Each plant will produce more than one item. Just put out a sign, sell them for $1 a pound. My grandfather has done it for years. He will make $40 - $90 a day! Yes, a day. People are into this "home grown" "go green" style now. They are looking for people to do the work for them. I mean, let's face it. I'd rather buy it then put manure on it. If you think you'll never eat a product that was that close to poop, you better start only eating meat. Or grow your own, that's an option too. Just be careful which fertalizer you use. Anyways, I plan on spending $2 per vegatable on seeds. That's ten packs. One pack produces about 15 plants. Each plant may provide more than two pounds of produce. That will be 1o packs of seeds resulting into over 300 pounds of vegatables, resulting into a $600, which makes a $598 profit...... per vegatable. Once I start to run low, I might as well head over to walmart and start all over again. Establish a good green house and you'll have it going through winter.
So why do potatoes make good detectives? Because they keep thier eyes peeled.
